Cleaning the oven doesn’t have to mean strong fumes, rubber gloves, and endless scrubbing. One simple home-friendly method uses items you likely already have: a dishwashing pod, a heatproof casserole dish, and water. To try it, preheat your oven to 200°F (93°C). Fill the dish with water, place a single dishwashing pod inside, and set the dish on the middle rack. As the oven warms, the water begins to steam, helping loosen baked-on grease and residue clinging to the interior walls.
After about an hour, turn off the oven and allow it to cool slightly until it’s safe to touch. The steam, combined with the cleaning agents in the pod, softens stubborn buildup so it wipes away far more easily. Using a damp cloth, gently clean the interior surfaces. Many people find that grime which once required heavy scrubbing now lifts with minimal effort. For tougher spots, a soft brush or a second steam cycle can provide additional help without damaging surfaces.
