MILLHARBOR — Residents of Millharbor faced an unexpected and challenging afternoon when a major fire broke out in the city’s historic Mariner’s Block district, leading to widespread evacuations, significant property damage, and an extensive emergency response effort. Despite the scale of the incident and the destruction left behind, officials have confirmed that no fatalities have been reported, a development many community members are describing as remarkable given the circumstances.
The fire reportedly began at approximately 3:42 p.m. inside the McAllister Textiles Building, a landmark structure that had stood in the district for more than a century.
